Professional Learning

At East Haven Public Schools, we believe that every educator is, first and foremost, a lifelong learner. Our professional learning program is designed to honor this commitment to growth and continuous improvement. The Office of Curriculum and Instruction supports an approach that moves beyond one-size-fits-all workshops and embraces a model that is deeply embedded in our culture and values.

Our professional learning is guided by three core principles:

  1. Depth over Breadth: We focus on a few high-leverage practices each year, allowing educators to delve deeply into new strategies and content. This intentional focus ensures that new learning is not just introduced, but truly integrated into classroom practice.
  2. Fostering Collegial Relationships: We know that the most impactful learning happens when we learn from one another. Our professional development program creates opportunities for educators to collaborate, share best practices, and build strong professional networks both within their schools and across the district.
  3. Iterative by Design: Learning is a process, not an event. Our professional learning cycle is iterative, providing dedicated time for new learning, supported application in the classroom, and structured reflection. This design ensures that new skills are refined and embedded, leading to lasting change and improved student outcomes.

This approach compliments our Professional Growth and Support Plan which emphasizes the importance of goals co-created with educators and administrators.

2025-26 Professional Learning Pathways

As educators, our learning interests and needs are diverse. For the 2025-26 academic year, we are hosting the following professional learning series with groups convening in August, November, and March to engage in ongoing learning sessions.
